EFFRACTION VACANCES

AAAh noise mutant pop ballad

EFFRACTION VACANCES

The two artists have been collaborating since 2018 with the duo Effraction Vacances, a live improvised performance format based on 1990s/2000s pop music - different each time - which is presented as a decomposed sculpture. For this new form, the artists focus on the possibilities of interweaving different moments live, playing over wide dynamic ranges inspired by both Instagram culture and drone music.

In 2023, the two artists return with a brand new live concert, performed at the Archipel Festival in Geneva and at the Digitales in Zurich. In this new live version, the musicians continue to explore the issues of capitalism, innovation and programmed obsolescence. A concert that goes straight to the wall, with a dose of humour and experimental pop. welcome to the always more more more more more more more more more more.

In May 2024, they return with a new proposition and a brand new K7 to be released later this year.

EFFRACTION VACANCES

Un concert qui va droit dans le mur avec une dose d'humour et de pop experimentale. welcome to the always more more more more more more more.

  • Julie Semoroz is singer, sound artist and head of artistic projects. Semoroz shapes sound using several sources such as field recordings, live microphones and her own voice with software and hardware. She offers sound pieces like inner journeys into the subconscious that penetrate into the darkness. Her work focuses on people’s individual relationship with mechanical and organic time. Her creations address new technologies and our post-industrial consumerist society. In her ecology-based research, in the sense of “habitat”, Julie Semoroz raises the question of how to experience our bodies and lives in the society.

  • Emma Souharce lives with her electric and electronic instruments which she transforms and manipulates some- times like toys, sometimes like tools of massive decomposition. With a disconcerting freedom of movement, between lo-fi caresses and screams of micro-machines, she sculpts in the sound material to extract the most subtle harmonies and dissonances. Through its turbulent and rugged physical landscapes, this ritualist alchemist works a trance from a series of intense movements to benevolent resolution, with the secret ambition to reach complete symbiotic states.

EFFRACTION VACANCES

AAAh noise mutant pop ballad

EFFRACTION VACANCES

The first version of Effraction vacances (Julie Semoroz and Emma Souharce) was a mutant pop ballad set against a backdrop of field recording. The two partners took a mainstream song as the starting point for each of their concerts, breaking it down brutally to extract an exhilarating magma of sound. Since then, they've been exploring different ways of mixing noise, pop and experimental tracks, which they renew every year.

EFFRACTION VACANCES
